Ella is a very interesting hop as it is said to give different characters depending on how it is used.
Ella contains a very high content of essential oils which guarantee a strong flavour/aroma. In normal amounts in the brew it gives strong floral and spicy aromas/flavors, among other things notes of star anise. In larger amounts in the brew or as dry hops you get a distinct aroma/flavor of tropical fruit.
Lager, Pilsner and IPA.
Ella is a half-sister to Galaxy, which was first launched in 2007 in Australia under the name Stella. The reason for the later name change is due to its similarity to Stella Artois. Ella is a mix of Spalt and an unknown triploid hop.
Aroma: Spicy and floral with notes of star anise. Also aromas of tropical fruit and citrus when the hops are used in larger quantities.

Cohumulone: 34 - 38 %
