Northdown has a mild and soft spicy aroma with hints of cedar and pine.

Fits well in Barley Wine, Stout, Porter, Old Ale, English IPA and similar beer types where you want a classic English "forest" taste.

Northdown was released by Wye College in England in the early 1970s. The variety has been bred from a Northern Brewer plant and a Downy mildew resistant hop plant to make a plant more resistant to disease. It is usually said that it is an aunt to Challenger and Target, the variety is very similar to Challenger but with more flavor.

Aroma: Spicy and floral with a taste of pine and cedar.
