Cascade is one of the most popular American aroma hops. Known for its fresh and flowery aroma with distinct notes of citrus.

Cascade is most commonly used in american ales and IPA. It can also be used for example in modern lagers and saison.

Cascade was introduced 1972 as a cross between the English hop Fuggles and a Russian variety called Serebrianca. During the very first craft-beer movement on the US west coast, Cascade played a major part, rising quickly in popularity. Up until 2018 it was the most commonly grown hop in the USA but has since been overtaken by Citra.

Aroma: Floral, citrus, grapefruit.

Origin: USA

Typical values:
Alpha acid (correct alpha value is printed on the package): 5 - 9 %
Cohumulone: 33 - 40 %
Total oils: 0,7 - 1,5 ml / 100 g
Storage stability (alpha acids): Poor, 48-52 % alpha acids remaining after 6 months at 20 °C
Possible replacements: NZ Cascade, Amarillo, Centennial, Ahtanum
