English hop variety that has been developed to be able to replace the difficult-to-grow Fuggle. Intense but mild aroma, slightly spicy. Well-rounded bitterness.

Goes well in classic English ales, pilsners, helles and wheat beers.

Cultivated in 1995 from open pollination at Wye Collage in England. Was not released to the public until just over ten years later, in 2006. Sovereign is the grandson of Pioneer and great-grandson of Whitbread Golding Vareity.

Aroma: Floral with aromas of grass and herbs with hints of green tea and vanilla.
